Monhegan Hardshell Lobsters
Monhegan lobsters are unlike any other in the world.  Caught over ten miles off the Maine coast, Monhegan lobsters are fished from the cold Atlantic waters of the Monhegan Marine Conservation Area .  The Monhegan Marine Conservation Area is a project of the Maine Department of Maritime Resources and the lobstermen of Monhegan Island.  In this protected wildlife area, the lobstermen, State of Maine work and marine biologists work to ensure the sustainability of the local lobster population by fishing a closed winter-only season with a tightly regulated trap limit.  In addition, Monhegan lobsters feed on local marine life rather than the in-shore mackerel diet of all other Maine lobsters.  Our remote, protected fishing grounds and the unique natural diet of our sustainable lobster population make Monhegan lobsters the sweetest tasting in the world.  Don't just take our word for it.  Try one and you'll see.
